Betty has 40 years of administrative experience in non-profit organizations including leadership roles in museums since 1992. In July 2005, she accepted leadership of Minnetrista, Home of the Ball Jar – a 40-acre historic site, museum and gardens. Her education includes a Master’s in Museum Studies and Anthropology from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s in Anthropology and Archaeology from the University of Virginia.
Betty has held several state and national positions within the museum field, including the Executive Board of the American Alliance of Museums – Leadership and Management Professional Network. She also serves as a peer reviewer for AAM's Museum Assessment Program. Locally, Betty is the Immediate Past President of the Muncie Arts & Culture Board and sits on two advisory boards at Ball State University. She just retired from the Board of the Muncie Action Plan after 10 years of service as a Task Force chair.
During her career, she has presented workshops and programs at state, regional, and national association meetings on leadership, administrative and financial management issues, and fund-raising. Betty resides in Yorktown with her videographer husband, Steve Perry (not of Journey).
